Old Business

Fair Recap –

-          Auctioneers/Sale – Jeff and Jayson did well, sale went very well.  One suggestion put forth was to have the swine sale photos done on the way out of the ring, to avoid delays in the sale flow.

-          Trucking – MP was great, as usual!

-          Carcass Contest – Marc King judged, went well

-          Meat Delivery – Used Polzin’s box truck again, very efficient, will do this as long as possible!!

-          Buyer gift – well received, have several left over for next year.

-          Pens/facilities – white gates from old swine pens are still outside the new barn, can be picked up at any time.

Fairgrounds Improvements

-          Long range building plan – more discussion will follow, but the general consensus is to work on the beef barn next.  Remodeling/raising sidewalls/ adding a lean to off the west side.  May be able to sell the old materials for salvage to an “antique” or “vintage” company.

-          Water line to new barn – need to let the end down to drain, worked well during fair.

-          Tree trimming, mowing, general maintenance – discussion around possibility of budgeting for an actual “fairgrounds manager or grounds keeper” to be in charge of grass, water, spraying weeds, maintaining fences etc.  Powell is going to visit with the commissioners about options.

-          Bird Net – discuss at January meeting

-          Fence behind hog barn – when the pig barn gets upgraded it would be nice to finish the continuous panel fence behind the barn.

New Business

Grant Money / Funds for projects – members present came to consensus that we needed to have a plan for what’s next before we pursue more fundraising opportunities, will discuss more at January meeting.
