Judith Basin County Fairboard Minutes

7-8-19

A work session was had prior to the meeting.  Only the wooden hog pens were removed due to the rain.  Other projects will be completed as the weather allows.

Call to order by Janet Wertheimer at 7:00pm.  Present were Sigrid Deegan, Jason Oltrogge, Powell Becker, Dawnita Sampsel (via phone), Janet Wertheimer, Katie Hatlelid, and Billie Jo Holzer.  Ashton Deegan also in attendance.

The minutes from the April 22nd meeting were read and approved as presented.

Treasurers Report – the budget request was given preliminary approval at $7,500 supplies, and the same amounts in the other lines as ’18-’19.

There were no announcements or public comment

Old Business

Carcass Contest – will be August 20th, 9 am

Barn Upgrades

-          Electrical – Basin Electric completed the electrical work in the new barn.  Lights and outlets work nicely.  Cost was $3,111.97.

-          Fans – Jason presented his research on exhaust fans.  Billie Jo moved (Powell) to purchase 2 fans to install in the new barn.  Motion passed.

-          Pens – white wooden pens were removed, and 2 gates, and 8 more divider panels are needed to finish that side.  The green sheep panels will be moved to the new barn, and the brown panels necessary to complete pens on the south side of the barn will be moved in. 

-          Animal numbers – 2 goats, 31 pigs, 15 steers, 14 lambs to sell, 15 breeding lambs, 2 replacement heifers, and several small animals.

Hog wash crate – Dan Tresch repaired

Water line – Jason has the pipe and supplies to run water from the wash racks down the fence to the new barn.  He will complete when time allows.

Tree trimming and mowing – as needed when weather allows

Bird net – the Stampede Club may complete this year

Food booth water heater – the old one sprung a leak, new one waiting to be installed.

Buyer gift – printed tumblers with goodies inside

Poultry Cages – some available, Katie will check with Deuprees to determine numbers needed.

Swamp cooler – reserved for Fri-Sat

Wood Shavings – need to be picked up

New Business

Long range building plan – next barn to work on will be beef barn.  May investigate fans for hog barn as well.  Other things that have been suggested: lights and power under the food booth pavilion, bleacher upgrades

 

Next meeting date – Sept 30th after meat delivery
