Judith Basin County Fairboard Minutes
7-30-2018
Call to order by Janet Wertheimer at 6:09pm. Janet Wertheimer, Powell Becker, Sigrid Deegan, Billie Jo Holzer, & Katie Hatlelid present.
The minutes were approved as read.
Treasurer’s report-same as June 11th.
No public comment
Old Business
Barn
- Windows or Fans will be determined when funding is available.
- Electricity will be determined when funding is available
- Panels – Powell will pick up tomorrow from WRS in Great Falls
- Next on the list will be upgrading the pens in the hog barn, with the building to follow.
Funding sources
- CMF Grant - final expenses need to be determined to receive the $5,000 conditional grant.
- Strand Foundation – Dawnita presented to the 4-H Council the idea of collaborating on grants for future improvements, the council was agreeable.
Weigh in
- Scale inspection completed July 25th, the scale works properly.
- Mik Kirby will do the brand inspections this year.
Parade & Events for 75th celebration
- Powell & Sigrid will marshal entries at the east end of town. Hoping for good attendance and participation!
Parking
- Will borrow signs from the Stampede Club to keep the east end by the barns clear for Saturday’s load out.
Sale
- Kyle or Jason and Jeff Jedlicka will auctioneer
- Trucking – RPM will haul to Columbus
- Carcass Contest – August 20th 9am
- Meat Delivery – September 13th – Ryan Polzin has a refrigerated van truck now, will hire the meat hauled.
- Wood Shavings – Fairboard will purchase 2 pallets of bagged shavings from CHS for $540, Katie will pick them up.
New Business
Buyer gifts
- Many sales have either a buyer dinner, or some sort of buyer gift. Ideas for such gifts included hats, pens, cups, mugs, & koozies. It is too late to get something like this ordered this year, but the topic needs more discussion before next year.
