Judith Basin Count Weed Board Minutes

November 6^th, 2017

The meeting was called to order by Lowell Hodge @ 6:55 pm.

Present: John McCray, Rod Mikkelsen, Lowell Hodge, Jim Kulish (later), Roger Riley, Michelle Lynn, Jim Sparks, and Katie Hatlelid.

The minutes were read by the Secretary and approved as read.

Jim Sparks was present to take part in discussion on the contract spraying.

Old Business:

Grants - Roger and Michelle asked for approval to apply for the Spotted Knapweed and White Top grants again this year. There are several grant participants that are willing to do the helicopter spraying again next summer. Rod moved and John 2^nd to apply for the Spotted Knapweed and White Top grants. Motion Carried

- John M moved and Rod 2^nd using the $7,500 NWTF grant to help pay Michelle’s time and effort for writing and submitting the White Top and Spotted Knapweed grants. Motion Carried.

Black Henbane - Katie investigated the process for adding Black Henbane to the County Nox. Weed list, and determined that it may be added to the state list in the near future. That would make it unnecessary to add it to the county list. The motion remained tabled

Spraying Contract - John M. moved and Rod 2^nd to advertise for a 2 year contract to spray weeds for JB County, with review and approval to be done by the Weed Supervisor and Admin Support. Motion Carried. The contract will be advertised in the JB Press, Lewistown News Argus, and the County Website.

BioControl Workshop - Katie will get in touch with Melissa Kassner to schedule a collection day in Geyser with a workshop either before or after the in-field collection.

Mower - Roger reported that a new mower may indeed be a beneficial tool for the road department, he will investigate options and present them at the spring meeting.
